As you most likely know by now, Windows 8.1 will be officially unveiled next week during the BUILD developer conference, but only in Preview form and specifically designed for testing purposes.

A new leaked photo of what appears to be a release schedule for Windows 8.1 reveals that the first major overhaul of Windows 8 is going to hit RTM in August, while general availability is prepared for October.

No official details have been provided on either RTM or general availability, so we can’t guarantee that this picture is real, but some previous reports have also indicated that Windows 8.1 RTM could see daylight two months after the public beta.

What’s more, sources familiar with the matter hinted that Windows 8.1 GA might come just in time for the holiday season, so October indeed seems to be the right timing for this.
