LibreOffice, which remains one of the top replacements for the more-expensive Microsoft Office, is getting closer to a brand new stable release, so today users have received one of the latest preview builds before the public launch.

LibreOffice 4.2.6 RC 1 is only supposed to be installed for testing purposes, but we've already tried it out and everything seems to be running quite smoothly.

This new build comes with a plethora of improvements regardless of the platform you are using, so a more stable and reliable experience should be provided after the update.

There are no new features added to this RC and chances are that nothing is going to be changed before the next stable build comes out, so if you decide to download today's version do not expect any big changes when LibreOffice 4.2.6 final is officially launched.

As you could easily guess, the release candidate tag shows that the app is still part of the development stage, so unless you're a more experienced user or you can't wait until the stable version is released, it's better to stick to the stable package.

Otherwise, just go ahead and click on the links below to get the version working on your computer.
