Microsoft released several bulletins for Windows 7 computers as part of its Patch Tuesday update cycle but, according to several users, one of the included fixes hangs up while deploying the included files.

64-bit Windows 7 computers also running Office 2010 Professional are reportedly provided with a buggy patch that tries to install the 32-bit version of OneNote. The update is labeled KB2760600 and is supposed to bring fixes for the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Microsoft OneNote 2010.

“Windows is trying to do an automatic update of OneNote 32 bit and has the same problem of hanging up,” one user reported. “I'm getting this too. Have Windows 7 64 bit, Office 2010 Home Edition 32-bit. The update is trying to install the 32-bit version of the OneNote update. Gets just over half-way through and just hangs,” another one confirmed.

Microsoft is most likely investigating the issue as we speak, so we’ll update the article when more information is released.
