The latest revision for Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPCHC) brings to the table several improvements and updates for the internal components.

The internal filters in build 1.7.1 of the application have support for WMV/ASF/DVR-MS splitting. However, these are disabled by default because Microsoft filters present in Windows are more stable.

On the same note, now there is support for HEVC (high-efficiency video coding) and VP9 video compression standard developed by Google.

The developer announced that Virtualdub, Unrar, and Little CMS utilities had been updated along with LAV Filters, which received several fixes.

The current revision addresses a glitch in the case of DVD playback that caused chapter marks to be wrong in the case of some titles. Also fixed is the crash bug that occurred when “Keep history of recently opened file” option would be enabled and MPCHC tried to open a long URL.
