Consumers are still reporting limited Wi-Fi connectivity on their tablets

Microsoft said that Patch Tuesday brought the eagerly awaited fix for the Surface Wi-Fi bug, but consumers are now reporting that the issue still persists after applying the new updates.

According to some posts on the company’s official support forums, the limited Wi-Fi connectivity scenario still exists after Windows Update automatically deployed the provided patches, so reapplying the previous registry trick is the only way to get Internet access on the affected tablets.

“Another firmware update, and the problem is still there. Registry patch re-applied,” one user said. “Surface Pro here. The recent firmware fix did nothing for me, either. It might possibly be worse than before. Now when I am connected, the connection works very slowly,” another one continued.

Microsoft is most likely investigating the issue as we speak, so expect more information on the bug, as well as new patches, to be released in the coming weeks or months.
