The iPad is the clear leader, according to new data

Even though Microsoft will soon release the Surface Pro, the company is still trying to make the RT version a more successful product, as unofficial reports point to a rather disappointing sales performance so far.

Some new figures provided by Chitika Insights indicate that Microsoft’s Surface has recorded only 0.4 percent of the tablet web traffic between January 9 and January 27, 2013.

Apple’s iPad remains the clear leader on the market with a share of 81 percent, followed by the Amazon Kindle Fire with 7.7 percent and the Samsung Galaxy tablets with 3.9 percent.

Microsoft has much higher expectations from the Surface Pro, especially because the tablet will run the full version of Windows 8, while also offering support for desktop applications. It will come in two different versions, with 64 GB or 128 GB of storage space.
