Microsoft has recently announced that it’s expanding the business channel for the Surface RT in 17 new markets, but more British retailers are also getting the tablet in the near future.

According to V3, a total of nine different stores will get both the RT and the Pro models, with sales expected to begin in the next few months.

Computacenter UK, Insight UK, Misco, Kelway, Phoenix Software, CCS Media, SCC UK, Softcat and SoftwareONE UK will all receive the two Surface models currently on the market.

"We look forward to working closely with these partners to better serve their commercial customers. As we move quickly into future phases of this programme, we will activate more partners in more markets to sell Surface devices," Microsoft UK's Peter King was quoted as saying.

At the same time, the tech giant is paving the road for the second-generation Surface tablet that’s expected to hit the market this year, most likely at about the same time with the Windows 8.1 OS update.

The revamped product family might also include a smaller unit that would retail for approximately $250 (€210).
