Microsoft and Lotus have decided to extend their Formula 1 collaboration until at least 2016 after a successful first season.

Microsoft Dynamics branding will still be featured on both the Lotus F1 Team’s 2013 car and on the uniforms used by drivers and team members, while the software solution will continue to be used at the factory.

“It is fantastic for Lotus F1 Team to strengthen our relationship with Microsoft,” Patrick Louis, Lotus F1 team chief executive office, said in a statement.

“Through the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics at Enstone we are evaluating every aspect of how we work and the improvement in efficiency allows us to become yet more competitive on track.”

The Microsoft – Lotus agreement was signed in March 2012, with employees of the Redmond-based technology company working together with Lotus engineers to optimize software implementation.
