The “new Microsoft” is no longer trying to promote its products by highlighting their key features, but mostly by showing the world the way it builds them, explaining that its apps, devices and services are “created for people who do.”

At the same time, Microsoft is always trying to get emotional with pretty much every single ad and today's Windows commercial is no exception.

Microsoft is showcasing the story of Mikaila Ulmer, a young girl who works to save honeybees at her family business in Austin, Texas, and uses Windows to do research and create presentations that are then given to people who could donate money and do something about this.

“Since the age of 4, Mikaila Ulmer has been working hard to help save honeybees,” Microsoft says in the official description of the video. “Mikaila uses Windows to conduct research and build presentations that educate others about what BeeSweet is doing to save the bees and their importance to our ecosystem.”

While it's hard to tell whether these ads have the desired effect or not, it's pretty clear that they are showing a different face of a company that's always looking beyond software to expand its business.

Hopefully, all these commercials will help Microsoft expand its business, but it's pretty clear that products need to be effective enough to experience the success the company is aiming for.
