Microsoft keeps talking big about its new Windows 8.1 OS update and in a post on the Health Blog, the company is now highlighting three of the features that consumers involved in the health industry find helpful in the operating system.

First of all, Microsoft says, the ability to run two apps side by side is the one that’s making doctors’ jobs easier, especially because they can work on a prescription for a patient and access his records at the same time.

Then, it’s the ability to run classic Windows applications. Sure, that’s only possible on x86 and x64 versions of Windows 8.1, which isn’t available on the Surface RT and Surface 2, but it’s there for those willing to spend more money for the full version of the operating system.

Security and management capabilities are also playing a key role, Microsoft says, adding that all the other features available in Windows 8.1 also come in handy, not only to those in the health industry, but to everybody else, as they’re making computing tasks a lot easier to perform.
