Internet Explorer was recently hit by some critical security flaws, but Microsoft moved quickly and apparently managed to protect its browser’s market share in September.

Internet Explorer is still the number one browser on the web, with a market share of 53.63 percent, according to new figures released by Net Applications.

Mozilla’s Firefox comes second with 20.08 percent, while Google Chrome has more users than ever, so it reached 18.86 percent last month.

Safari and Opera are still way behind the top three browsers out there, with a market share of 5.26 and 1.62 percent, respectively.

Surprisingly, statistics released by StatCounter claim that Google Chrome is the market share leader with 34.21 points, while Internet Explorer is only the second with 32.7 percent. More on this particular analysis can be found here.
