Microsoft rolled out a critical update for Internet Explorer as part of the Patch Tuesday release cycle, so all users are now strongly recommended to deploy it as soon as possible.

The software giant informs that the update is being considered critical for Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11 on Windows clients and moderate for Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7 on Windows servers, and Important for Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10, and Internet Explorer 11 on Windows servers.

The patch addresses a total of 23 privately-reported security flaws and another one that was made public recently, the company explained.

“The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer,” Microsoft noted.

“An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.”

As usual, all patches are being shipped to users via Windows Update, so it’s all done automatically.
