Microsoft launched yesterday a developer preview version of Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7, but the company has now released new virtual machines to try out the browser.

“Virtual machines have proven to be a great way for developers to test in their preferred environment. We’ve made these available across various versions – from IE6 on Windows XP to IE10 on Windows 8 and in-between,” the tech giant said in a post.

Windows 8.1 Preview with Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11 Developer Preview are both available for download in many common virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Virtual PC for Windows 7, and VirtualBox on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux.

Internet Explorer 11 will be the default browser in Windows 8.1, while Windows 7 users will get it as an optional download. Windows 8.1 is set to hit RTM in August.
