Microsoft has recently released the web version of Xbox Video that serves as an alternative for users who aren’t running Windows 8.1 or owning an Xbox One.

The web-based version comes with almost the same feature package as the downloadable apps available in the stores, with one major exception. It does not support HD content, with Microsoft saying that HD playback is only offered to Windows 8.1 and Xbox One users.

Playing Xbox Video content on the web is possible with Microsoft’s own Silverlight plug-in and all the content you previously purchased is available once you log in with a username and password.

At the same, Microsoft has also revealed that it’s working on a Windows Phone version of the service, but no details as to when it could be released have been provided.

According to The Verge, the mobile Xbox Music service will also lack HD support, so high quality content will remain exclusive on Windows 8.1 and Xbox One.
