As part of the Patch Tuesday monthly update cycle, Microsoft rolls out a new version of its so-called Malicious Software Removal Tool to lend a hand to Windows users who want to get rid of specific malware infections.

Version 4.17 is now up for grabs and, even if no release notes are available for the time being, it most likely brings detection and removal options for some new forms of malware.

Of course, the tool continues to be offered at absolutely no cost, getting along perfectly with all Windows builds currently on the market, including XP, Vista, 7, and 8.

The app is pretty easy to use and comes with a straightforward interface that should allow basically all user categories to make the most of it with minimum effort.
