Microsoft has just rolled out a new version of its popular malware removal tool, as it added protection for some new infections.

While the official release notes do not state any changes in version 4.18, Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool most likely received support for some new forms of malware, as the company adds detection and cleaning capabilities for new threats every month.

As you probably know by now, the Malicious Software Removal Tool is not a full-time anti-malware solution, but only a removal utility that should help you get rid of specific forms of malware.

It works on all Windows versions currently supported by Microsoft, including XP, Vista 7 and 8. Both 32- and 64-bit builds of Windows can run the app.
