Word is that Microsoft is already adding the finishing touches to the second-generation Surface, but Nvidia’s CEO claims that the two companies are still working on the device.

CEO Jen-Hsun Huang told CNET in a short interview that both companies were “working really hard” to make the Surface 2.0 a big success.

Nvidia, which has already provided the Tegra 3 processor for the first Surface RT tablet, is the second company that helps Microsoft design the second-generation unit, as Qualcomm is also rumored to contribute to the development process with its very own Snapdragon 800 processor.

Nvidia is one of the companies that praised Windows RT and the Surface RT on a regular basis, claiming that the RT version of Outlook was the only app the tablet needed to become a successful product.

"It is the killer app for Windows. Now we're going to bring it with the second-generation Surface. We're working really hard on it, and we hope that it's going to be a big success."

According to previous reports, the new Surface tablet is set to go on sale before the holiday season, with the range to also include an 8-inch unit designed to compete with the iPad mini and the Nexus 7.
