Microsoft’s very own email platform Outlook.com is currently down and cannot be accessed for the time being, while Hotmail is also experiencing service disruptions.

Microsoft’s service status page confirms the issue for both Hotmail and Outlook.com, but it doesn’t provide any details regarding the reason behind the outage.

“We're having a problem accessing email. You might not be able to see all your email messages. We're working to restore service right now,” a notification posted on the website reads.

“Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped. We'll provide an update by Mar 13 11:12 AM. We apologize for the lengthy interruption in service.”

The company is most likely working to bring the two email services back online as we speak, so we’re going to update this article as soon as Microsoft shares more information.

Update: we've received reports that access had been restored in some countries, but Microsoft's service status page indicates that both Outlook.com and Hotmail are down right now.

Update 2: Microsoft has just updated its status page to indicate that it's still working on the issue because "fixing it is taking longer than expected."

Update 3: The company has just released a new statement on the issue affecting the two email platforms. "We're having a problem accessing email. You might not be able to see all your email messages. We're working to restore service right now," the company said. Both Outlook.com and Hotmail are still down.

Update 4: Microsoft has finally fixed the issue and the two email services are now working just fine.
