After Accompli and Sunrise, Microsoft is again looking at a company that makes successful apps for mobile devices, mostly because Redmond is seeking new opportunities to improve its operating system set to receive a major overhaul later this year.

German site Manager Magazin reports that Microsoft is looking to purchase the popular to-do app Wunderlist, and the Redmond-based tech giant has already contacted its maker, 6Wunderkinder, to start takeover negotiations.

It turns out that the talks between the two companies have advanced pretty fast and an agreement should be announced very soon, the source adds.

Wunderlist has registered an impressive growth in the last 12 months, and the number of users has recently reached 13 million, but company officials have more ambitious goals for the future, which could indeed be possible with Microsoft’s help.

Wunderlist, which allows you to set up reminders, create to-do lists, and share them with friends and family, is available on the majority of platforms out there, including Windows 7, Windows 8 Metro, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.

Needless to say, Microsoft remains tightlipped on this takeover for the moment, as the company replied with a vague “no comment” when asked about any ongoing talks with 6Wunderkinder.

If negotiations advance at the desired pace, however, expect an announcement on this in the coming months, most likely ahead of the Windows 10 Mobile launch in the second half of the year.
