October 22 is the day when Microsoft officially starts shipping Surface 2 tablets to customers across the United States, but it turns out that those who hoped to get their hands on the top-of-the-range models might have to wait a bit more.

A notification posted on Microsoft’s website claims that Surface Pro 2 with 256 GB and with 512 GB of storage space will be shipped by December 15, as Redmond apparently struggles to deal with supply issues for these two models.

Both the 64 GB and the 128 GB versions are in stock and will be shipped, just as initially planned, by October 22.

All Surface Pro 2 models are running the new Windows 8.1 Pro and come with hardware upgrades, including up to 8 GB of RAM for maximum performance on the go.
