Microsoft has just announced that starting February 1, 2013 a Windows 8 upgrade would cost $119.99 (€90), while the Windows 8 Pro version, also an upgrade, will have a price tag of $199.99 (€150).

As part of a special offer available since launch, a standard Windows 8 upgrade is now priced at $39.99 (€30), but the discount is going to expire at the end of the month.

In addition, the Windows 8 Pro Pack will cost $99.99 (€75), while the Windows 8 Media Center Pack, which is still up for grabs at no cost until January 31, will be available for $9.99 (€7.5).

Of course, it remains to be seen whether the new pricing would support the growing trend of Windows 8, as the new operating system still has to face an avalanche of criticism coming not only from users, but also from several companies involved in the hardware manufacturing business.
