Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 Update 1 continues to be a work in progress and, according to some new information, the company is planning to launch it as soon as this April.

Now information provided by WZor, who has until now leaked plenty of accurate details regarding Microsoft’s new projects, claims that Redmond has decided to rebuild Windows 8.1 Update 1 build 9600.17024 which has already been sent to partners.

“There’s nothing exciting in this new build,” WZor says, so the company most likely found some bugs or issues that needed to be addressed as soon as possible and decided not to wait until work on a new build is completed.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is very likely to debut on April 8 when Microsoft starts shipping it to users along with other fixes aimed at resolving vulnerabilities on Patch Tuesday.

Microsoft hasn’t yet announced the launch date for the new OS version, but it did confirm recently that an update for Windows 8.1 is coming this spring. Windows 8.1 Update 1 will bring plenty of enhancements for the desktop, as well as power options and other improvements placed right on the Start screen.

Several leaks are already available right now, so if you want to have a glimpse into the feature lineup of the upcoming OS version, you can do it by downloading one of these unofficial builds.
