Last week, Microsoft announced the availability of a new flavor of its Antimalware Engine, namely version 1.1.8704.0.

The new iteration was released as part of the Redmond-based company’s monthly update for the technology. As usual, the new Antimalware Engine was made available for all Microsoft Security Essentials customers.

Additionally, it was made available for all Forefront Client Security, Forefront Endpoint Protection, and Windows Intune Endpoint Protection partners.

The AntiMalware Engine 1.1.8704.0 was released on August 27th, 2012, although the Redmond-based software giant was initially planning it for August 20th.

Signature package 1.135.0.0 was the first to have been delivered with the new engine inside. The release was meant to increase the security of Microsoft products, while also being tailored to address the latest in the threat landscape, the company noted.
