Microsoft launched a major Windows 8 app update this A.M., introducing several key improvements for the pre-installed apps, such as News, Travel, Sports, and Maps.

The News update comprises quite a lot of enhancements, such as access to Bing News to see the day’s top stories and trending topics, news customization to get the news you want on the home screen, and international editions to check out the news regarding a specific country.

Last but not least, the application packs offline reading to download your news and read them when you’re not connected to the Internet, as well as sharing and full-screen image support.

As usual, the update is being delivered through the integrated Windows Store, so simply launch this feature and check out the “Updates” section to see if the new version is available for you too.
