Yesterday Microsoft presented the brand new Surface 3 tablet, a new device that extends the Surface portfolio with a model that's not only more affordable but also comes with specs that could make you more productive on the go.

Microsoft says that the Surface 3 is “the tablet that can replace your laptop,” which is pretty much the same thing the company said back in 2014, when it officially introduced the Surface Pro 3, which came not only with much more powerful hardware but also with a bigger price.

This time, the more appropriate tag line would be “the tablet that can replace your laptop, at a better price,” as the Surface 3 was first and foremost designed to be more affordable, with pricing being at $499 (€450).

The tablet comes with all the things you'd need, including a 10.8-inch display, up to 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage space, USB 3.0 and microUSB ports, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LTE support. What's more, it runs the full version of Windows 8.1, which means that it can really replace your laptop by supporting software that works on the desktop.

The Surface 3 is already up for pre-order, but shipments will only begin in May, but the faster you reserve yours, the bigger the chances to get it in early May.
