Microsoft will kick off its first Windows 10 event of the year in less than one hour, but information on what's going to be unveiled already reaches the web in these very last minutes before the conference.

One of the topics that Microsoft will discuss today is the revamped Modern UI, which in addition to several improvements, will also come with a brand new Start screen.

The photo you see here was posted on Twitter by Tom Warren and reveals the redesigned Start screen, which continues, of course, to be based on live tiles, but with several tweaks.

Tiles have now been moved to the right side of the screen, while a list of apps is now being displayed on the left, obviously in an attempt to display more information on just one screen, without the need to scroll or swipe.

Tiles can still be grouped in categories and there is a new button in the top right corner of the Start screen which most likely provides access to power options and other settings.

The Start screen looks indeed a bit more modern and although this might not be the final design that could ship with Windows 10 in the fall of 2015, it's no doubt that Microsoft plans to revamp every single part of its operating system to better address the needs of users.

More details on this new Start screen as well as several other improvements will be revealed very soon during the Windows 10 event.
