Windows 10 will debut on July 29, and Microsoft is now working to give the latest touches to the preview builds that are currently available for Windows insiders, so the company is disclosing new information about the operating system on a daily basis.
This time, Microsoft has published the entire list of system requirements for Windows 10, confirming that they are very similar to the ones available for the preview build and for Windows 7 and 8.1.
In other words, if you’re currently running Windows 7 or 8.1 on your computer, you should see no performance difference when upgrading to Windows 10, and that’s quite a good thing since the new operating system would be offered free of charge to PCs running Windows 7 or 8.1.
Aside from the typical system requirements, you’re going to need special hardware if you want to use some features.
For example, Windows Hello, which is the new authentication system for Windows 10, will require “specialized illuminated infrared camera for facial recognition or iris detection or a finger print reader which supports the Window Biometric Framework,” while Continuum, a feature that makes it possible to switch from the desktop to the Modern UI without interrupting your work, only works on 2-in-1 devices.
Here are the standard Windows 10 system requirements, and scroll down to find the rest to get the full experience on your device:
