Users really need to move on, Microsoft seems to say with this new infographic

It’s not a surprise that Microsoft wants Windows XP to die from the bottom of its heart, so every single new attempt to move users from this old OS to a newer platform are something we could all see coming.

This infographic, for example, does nothing else than to show that times have changed since Windows XP first got to see daylight and the operating system really needs to be retired and make room for newer platforms capable of providing enhanced performance and much better features.

For example, the software giant points out that in 2003 a new laptop was two-inches thick and weighed in seven pounds, while the new Surface 2, which is clearly a much more advanced device, is much lighter and comes with a 64 GB hard drive.

Office 2003 was only available on desktop computers, Redmond said, while the new Office 365 is offered to a wide array of consumers, including those who have purchased laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Of course, the purpose of this new infographic is to convince users that the migration from Windows XP is a thing that cannot be avoided, but it remains to be seen how many people are actually impressed with it and how many choose to ignore all these messages and stick to the old platform.
