If you’re one of the many users running Security Essentials right now, it’s worth knowing that Microsoft has just launched a pre-release build of the application that’s now available free of charge for everyone.

Microsoft Security Essentials 4.5.212.0 Pre-Release is only recommended to developers and users who want to provide feedback to the software giant in order to improve the application and fix any found bugs before the stable build hits the market.

That’s likely to happen in early March, so you can use the pre-release version of the application for approximately two or three weeks.

“As a Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease user, you will have the opportunity to explore and test new builds of Microsoft Security Essentials before they are publically available and provide feedback to Microsoft. Your feedback helps Microsoft to make its software and services the best that they can be,” Microsoft said in a note for users.

Of course, the app still lets you have a glimpse into the feature lineup of the next stable release, so download Microsoft Security Essentials 4.5.212.0 Pre-Release right now to see what’s new.
