Microsoft has an ongoing partnership with Real Madrid

Microsoft and Real Madrid signed a partnership in late 2014, which makes the Redmond-based tech giant the sole provider of phones and tablets for the Spanish football club.

Needless to say, players such as Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gareth Bale are now using Windows Phones and Surface tablets, so it's no surprise that the company wanted to make this official with a new commercial released to the web today.

The new video, which Microsoft calls “Passion powers passion,” shows several Real Madrid players using Windows Phones and tablets, including the Surface Pro 3 and several Lumia devices.

Surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is undoubtedly the top star of the Spanish football club, isn't showing up in the video, which made many joke that Microsoft didn't afford to convince him to take part in the commercial or that he was an avid iPhone user.

No matter the reason Ronaldo didn't star in the ad, it's obvious that joining forces with Real Madrid and using its five-star players to showcase Windows products is a big win for Microsoft, which still struggles to boost the popularity of its devices on the Old Continent.

For those asking for an official Real Madrid app for Windows Phone, such a project is most likely already in the works at Microsoft and go-ahead should be given anytime soon. In the meantime, there are several fan apps in the store, so it shouldn't be too hard to read news or find out more info about the players of your favorite football club.
