While Microsoft struggles to boost Surface RT sales through all kinds of market strategies, the device is still far from becoming the huge sales hit the Redmond-based technology giant has expected.

Data released by Chitika Insights and concerning “tens of millions” of tablet impressions from its own ad network between December 8 and December 14 reveal that iPad remains the undisputed leader on the tablet market.

Amazon’s Kindle fire comes second with 4.88 impressions per 100 iPad impressions, accounting for a 4.25 percent share of all tablet web traffic.

Samsung Galaxy tablets generate 3.04 percent of the impressions, while Microsoft’s Surface RT is still far, far away with only 0.22 percent. Only two device families have scored worse than the Surface, namely the HP Touchpad and unidentified Android tablets with 0.18 and 0.17 percent, respectively.
