Just as promised, tech giant Microsoft today rolled out the new Surface Pro tablet in Australia, with pricing to start at $999 (€771) for the 64 GB model.

The top-of-the-range version featuring 128 GB of storage space comes with a price tag of $1,099 (€850), but keep in mind that no Touch Cover is included in the package.

The device will obviously be available online via the Microsoft Store, but Australian retailers Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi will also sell the two models.

As you most likely heard, Microsoft is now trying to expand international availability of the Surface Pro, so the tablet will also go on sale in several European countries in the next few weeks.

In addition, the company is working on the second-generation Surface tablet scheduled to hit the shelves in the next couple of months and running Windows 8.1.
