Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface RT, the company’s first tablet in history launched together with Windows 8 in October 2012.

The software company says that the November 2013 update makes the Touch Cover 2 and the Type Cover 2 support Japanese, so more regional settings are now available on the device.

The Surface RT can also be updated to Windows RT 8.1, so make sure you are running the latest OS version to get all features available at this point to buyers who get this particular tablet.

The firmware update is being delivered right now to Surface RT tablets through Windows Update, so just connect your device to the Internet and wait for the new release to be downloaded and installed. A reboot will be required once installation comes to an end.
