Microsoft has released new firmware updates for its tablets as part of the Patch Tuesday rollout, fixing some of the bugs it found on the devices in the past months.

The Surface RT, which is Microsoft's first tablet in history, has received a new firmware version that brings a Home Button driver update to optimize the available system memory, as well as a Type cover audio device driver update to enhance trackpad sounds for Type Cover 2.

The Surface RT, which comes by default with Windows RT, can be updated to Windows RT 8.1 and is compatible with both first models of the Touch and Type Covers.

The device has recently received a new version in the form of Surface 2, an upgraded model that comes with new hardware and Windows RT 8.1. Surface 2 is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and comes with a full HD 10.6-inch display.
