Microsoft hasn’t yet revealed sales data for its first tablet device in history, but an analyst claims that early figures suggest the Surface RT is quite a disappointing product.

“While the anticipation and launch of Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system has been one of the most talked about technology stories of 2012, we believe initial adoption of the OS and sales of Microsoft’s first tablet have been disappointing,” FBR Capital analyst David Hilal said according to Forbes.

Microsoft has recently decided to start selling the Surface RT through third-party retailers across the world, so the device is now available at non-Microsoft stores in the UK, the US and France.

More countries will get the Surface RT in the upcoming months, the company guarantees as it strives to boost sales just before the Surface with Windows 8 Pro comes out.
