A new report that reached the web a couple of days ago revealed that Microsoft was planning to launch a new version of Windows in early 2015 that could be codenamed “Threshold.”

While no confirmed information has been available until now, the company now says that it has nothing to comment on this report, which could actually be a sign that there might be some truth behind all these stories.

If these rumors are true, Microsoft is scheduled to release Windows Threshold in early 2015, in an attempt to bring together its Windows versions and offer a unified experience across all its devices.

This particular Windows release could come at approximately one year after the Spring GDR Update, a new rollout scheduled to see daylight in early 2014. Codenamed “Update 1,” this new cycle might actually bring a long list of improvements for Windows 8.1, as well as bug fixes for many of the issues found by Microsoft after the October launch.
