Redmond launches a new model for the education sector

Microsoft has recently announced the Surface 3 tablet, which is in essence a more affordable version of the Surface Pro 3, but the device can only be pre-ordered for now, while shipments should begin in early May.

And although it’s practically impossible to get your hands on a Surface 3 for now, Microsoft has just unveiled a new model of the device that’s specifically aimed at the education sector.

The so-called Surface 3 for Education comes with only 32 GB of storage space, whereas the other models feature at least 64 GB of space and go all the way up to 128 GB. Presumably, the storage space drop was needed for a lower price, but Microsoft hasn’t yet said anything about how much schools would have to pay to get the new tablet.

What it did say, however, is that those interested in purchasing the Surface 3 will also receive a 10 percent discount for any of the other models currently available, so the device would thus become even more affordable.

The 32 GB Surface 3 is supposed to be Microsoft’s ace up its sleeve for the education sector, as the company has been targeting this industry for several months now.

Although it would feature less storage space, OneDrive cloud support and microSD cards will still work, but in most of the cases, the built-in storage should be enough for documents and apps needed by teachers and students.
