Microsoft officially rolled out the first Patch Tuesday updates of the year this week, but the company continues to release improvements for its software solutions.

The Xbox Music app available on Windows 8 platforms has just received an update on both the desktop version of the operating system and on Windows RT.

According to the release notes, the app has been improved with several “key updates,” including enhancements to simply access the streaming music for free.

In addition, Xbox Music now comes with an update to further streamline the transition from a trial subscription to a paid Xbox Music Pass, but also with a fix to minimize occasional playback concerns.

As usual, the new version is delivered via the integrated Windows Store, so users have nothing else to do than to hit the “Update” button on their Windows 8 device.
