A new version of the app is now being delivered through the store

Microsoft has just released a new version of the Mail, Calendar, and People apps that are pre-installed on all versions of Windows 8 and 8.1.

This fresh build, which is currently being delivered to users via Windows Update, is specifically focused on fixing bugs and addressing performance issues, so no new options are included for the time being.

Microsoft hasn’t yet released a change log, so it’s safe to assume that the company focused on resolving existing issues, rather than on implementing enhanced functionality in the application.

The new version is also being delivered to Windows 8.1 Update users, on both desktop computers and tablets, so make sure that you have a look in the Windows Store to get it as soon as possible.

If you haven’t changed the default configuration of your operating system, be it Windows 8.1 or 8.1 Update, the new version might be already there running on your computer, as software updates are downloaded and installed automatically on these two OS versions.

As mentioned, the new version of the apps is being shipped through the store, but you can also download Mail, Calendar, and People apps for Windows 8.1 manually to see if they bring something new.
