Today, Microsoft has released an update for the Xbox Music app that’s available on all Windows 8.1 builds, implementing a new series of bug fixes and performance improvements aimed at both desktops and tablets.

As you most likely know by now, the Xbox Music app was designed to help users play audio files in the Modern UI of Windows 8, regardless of whether the operating system is deployed on a PC or on a tablet. Truth is, the interface is optimized for the touch, but it can also be used with a mouse in case you’re running Windows 8 on a desktop computer.

“Xbox Music brings you all the music you love in one simple app. Play and manage music from your personal collection and browse and buy songs from Xbox Music. Instantly stream millions of songs free on your Windows 8/Windows RT device. Or get an Xbox Music Pass for unlimited access to music across all your devices,” the app description published in the store reads.

The app comes with the same feature lineup, including options to manage your personal music collection, create and edit playlists of your favorite songs, important playlists from iTunes, listen to music free of charge, and buy songs and albums from the store.

Of course, everyone is recommended to deploy the update as soon as possible, so just download Music for Windows 8.1 right now if you wish to do it manually without waiting.
