Tech giant Microsoft is one of the companies that donated the biggest amount of money to President Barack Obama’s re-election committee, as the software maker contributed $2.1 million (€1.6 billion) to support the January inauguration.

According to a report by Bloomberg citing Federal Election Commission filings, Microsoft is the second top donor, as AT&T contributed $4.6 million (€3.5 million).

In case you’re wondering, more than $814,000 (€625,000) was donated by Microsoft’s employees, with the re-election committee raising a record $44 million (€33 million). Other top donors include Boeing and Chevron, each with $1 million (€767,000) granted for the Obama campaign.

Microsoft hasn’t released a public statement on this, but this isn’t surprising at all, especially because the company had previously announced that the staff taking care of President’s Obama campaign had used Lync for communication and collaboration across the United States.
