The Windows Store is growing at a moderate pace and some of the apps are pretty useless, but a Microsoft official claimed that, overall, everything is going according to the plan.

Tina Flammer, Windows Business Group Lead, Microsoft Australia, told ITWire that Windows 8 users are most of the time provided with high-quality apps, so expect the Windows Store to grow bigger significantly in the future. The comments were made after Carsales, one of the top car retailers in Australia, launched its own Windows 8 app.

“We’re excited to welcome carsales to Windows 8 in Australia. With over 200,000 cars to choose from buyers can find the car for them with ease in this innovative Windows 8 app,” Flammer said.

“The Windows 8 platform has an ever-expanding number of high-quality apps that we’re incredibly proud of, and this new addition is testament to that,” she added.

At this point, there are nearly 90,000 apps available in the Store and Microsoft promises that even more will be launched after the public debut of Windows 8.1.
