14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 is still work in progress, so you can't really blame Microsoft for changing its mind when it comes to some features or the interface of the desktop. But as far as the release date is concerned, it's pretty clear that Redmond is yet to make a final decision as it most likely doesn't know when the new OS will be ready for shipping.
As we already reported to you last week, Kevin Turner, Microsoft's chief operating officer, said at the Credit Suisse Annual Technology Conference that Windows 10 would launch in late summer or early fall 2015, after getting both a consumer preview and a developer preview build throughout the year.
But in a new interview with Japanese daily Nikkei, Turner now says that Windows 10 will come in “early next fall,” so the late summer deadline has most likely been dropped.
While it's hard to figure out what happened at Microsoft after the Credit Suisse conference, it appears that Turner wanted to give a more accurate timing for Windows 10, so the late summer estimate was most likely unrealistic.
Obviously, the early fall 2015 is still a vague release date, but at least it's easy to speculate that Windows 10 would arrive in October 2015, which is exactly three years after the launch of Windows 8.
