Microsoft finally decided to put things straight in the user privacy policy saga, confirming that no data will be collected for advertising purposes.

This is something that Google already does, but the Redmond-based technology company said that it doesn’t intend to collect any type of user information to target advertising.

It all started when Representative Edward J. Markey sent a letter to Microsoft, claiming that the company’s Services Agreement isn’t clear enough, so the software giant may collect user information from email, search and instant messaging.

Microsoft has already denied these accusations, but this time the company issued an official comment to explain that it has no intention to analyze browsing and chat sessions.

"One thing we don’t do is use the content of our customers’ private communications and documents to target advertising," Microsoft said.
