The company says that its new campaign is just a limited-time promo

Microsoft announced a few hours ago that developers who would create apps for its Windows 8 platform as part of a special campaign are eligible for a $100 (€77) gift for every single software solution that gets approved for the Store.

Even though this may sound a bit weird, given the fact that Microsoft basically pays devs to create Windows 8 apps, the company said in a statement for AllThingsD that this is just a limited-time promo that will only run through June.

“We believe the best apps come from those partners who are invested in the platform and own their experience now and in the future. Of course, we are always working to spark creativity with new developer audiences and sometimes try limited incentives or contests, like Keep The Cash. However, it is not representative of an ongoing program,” the company said.

Of course, this statement doesn’t change anything because Windows 8 still needs new apps as soon as possible, mostly because large software companies are still staying away from Microsoft’s new OS.
