Microsoft has just announced that it's adding PDF viewing support for its Word Web App service, thus allowing users to open PDF documents straight in their browsers.
The software maker explained that Outlook.com and SkyDrive users will benefit from this feature, as it would enable them to open attachments or PDFs stored in the cloud without the need for launching a third-party application.
“Additionally, for SkyDrive you can convert PDFs to editable Word documents. This allows you to 'release' the text in PDFs without requiring PDF editing software. Please note that the conversion does not change the PDF itself. Converting creates an entirely new file. Also, depending on the content of the original PDF, the formatting of a converted Word document may vary from the original,” the company explained.
The feature is now being rolled out across the world, so in case you're not seeing it already, PDF viewing options should land in your account in the next couple of days.
