It's no surprise that Microsoft is working to expand its Lumia series of phones, and as part of the company's plans, there's also a more affordable Lumia 830 that could launch in the coming months.

NPU reveals that Microsoft's new and cheaper Lumia 830 model could come with dual-SIM support and might be priced at approximately $275 (€235), which would indeed be an important step forward for a company that still struggles to compete against Android in every sector, including low-end smartphone sales.

The new Lumia 830 variant would come with a 5-inch 720p display, 1 GB of RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, and an 8.7-megapixel rear camera. The source claims that PureView could be offered for the camera, especially because it's believed that Microsoft could go for same unit that's installed on Lumia 920 right now.

8 GB of internal storage could also be offered and so will microSD card support, which would allow users to expand storage capacity to 64 or 128 GB.

Right now, there are no details as to when the new Lumia 830 version could go on sale, but the company could use the upcoming MWC 2015 conference in Barcelona, Spain, to introduce the model alongside other new phones.

Since it's very likely to launch in the coming months, the device is expected to run Windows Phone 8.1 before eventually getting updated to Windows 10 for Phones.
