Microsoft has improved the SkyDrive cloud-based storage service on a regular basis, but according to a new report, lots of major enhancements are under development right now.

LiveSide.net writes that Microsoft is working to introduce folder mounting to SkyDrive, thus giving you the option to quickly access others’ directories from your SkyDrive account.

Such a feature would allow users to quickly sync all their files to their PCs, regardless if they belong to them or not.

At the same time, the source says that device settings backup management will also be offered, so you’ll get full control over the settings stored in the cloud.

Windows 8.1 Preview already allows users to save settings in their SkyDrive account, so such an option would come in very handy.

Last but not least, shared file lists are also likely to be introduced in order to provide consumers with an easier way to access specific files stored in different folders. This list can host up to 100 files from different locations.

Microsoft is, obviously, yet to comment on these features, but the public rollout is expected to begin in the next couple of months.
