Microsoft is no longer looking to bring back Clippy in its new products, but this old feature might be back in some way or another using a different name and most likely improved features.

A new app that has been spotted in the Windows Phone store by WMPU could provide a similar feature lineup as Clippy did, with a big a difference: it would be specifically designed to work on phones, and not on desktops, but Microsoft could obviously bring it on absolutely all platforms once development is completed.

Called Work Assistant, the new feature is designed to help you perform a number of Office tasks on Windows Phone, and what’s more, it also comes with support for Cortana. Basically, it’s an improved version of Cortana specifically focused on Office, so you can always ask it for more information on a specific feature of the productivity suite using a voice command.

The app is currently in private beta development, so you won’t be able to test it despite the fact that it can be found in the store using the official link.

Microsoft hasn’t provided any details about this app, but given the fact that work continues on this particular feature, expect the company to break the news on the Work Assistant anytime soon.
