Microsoft will announce next week not only the public beta of Windows 8.1, but also a new partnership with Oracle, according to a new report.

While no specifics have been provided, it appears that Microsoft and Oracle have joined forces for a new cloud-based project that could involve the new cloud database Oracle 12c.

Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer, Satya Nadella, the man in charge with the cloud business in the Redmond empire, and Oracle president Mark Hurd will attend the big event on Monday, according to SFGate.com.

On Wednesday, Microsoft will officially introduce Windows 8.1 Preview, the first major overhaul for the new Windows 8 that’s supposed not only to fix some of the issues reported in the operating system, but also to make the platform a bit more familiar by bringing back the Start button.
